Tutor profile Tony Hull

03:26 Unknown 0 Comments

Tony Hull studied at Chelsea School of Art before completing his MA at the Slade. He is an exhibiting artist working principally as a painter, and drawing forms a significant part of his art practice. His current output explores sites of extreme socialization like youth rallies and mass gymnastic displays, and his work is in UK, European and US private collections. He has a studio in North London.

Tony’s teaching methods relate to his interest in the way visual perception functions and how meaning is formed, particularly in relation to artistic process. He is excited by collaboration and the cross-disciplinary opportunities for drawing and has run drawing workshops for Electronic Arts and Microsoft, mainly in the US and China. He is currently writing a book on the relationship between drawing and visual perception.

invitation to the Discerning Eye EXHIBITION FROM ex- student Alison Lumb

03:34 Unknown 0 Comments

‘The ING Discerning Eye Exhibition is a show of small works independently selected by six prominent figures from different areas of the art world: two artist, two collectors and two critics. Work is selected from open submission and with works by artists invited by the individual selectors. Each section is hung separately to give each its own distinctive identity. The impression emerges of six small exhibitions within the whole. It provides an unusual opportunity for works by lesser-known artists to be hung alongside contributions from internationally-recognised names.’

So that is exciting.   I would love to invite you all to a private view, but unfortunately, due to the large number of artists involved, we only get a couple of guest tickets for the Artists’ PV.

However, entry to the show is free, so if you find yourself in the area, do drop in. The dates are 12th-22nd November and they are open every day.

More information can be found on the Mall Galleries website:

In other news – I now have a somewhat overdue freestanding website:
